Shannon Russell: Welcome back. I am Shannon Russell, a business coach for women and author of Start Your Second -. Act. Before we get into this episode, I want to thank you for listening. We are a top 2% podcast globally, which is no small feat and it's because of you. I want to thank those of you who I am lucky enough to have as clients to get to work with, and those of you who have left a review for the show and listen regularly, it means so much to me.
Okay, now that we have that out of the way, let's dive into this episode because we're gonna be talking about three ways that you can really start seeing some momentum in your business. Right now.
If you are listening to this episode in real time, it is winter here in the United States, and it's that slow, dark season where we're getting out of the highs of the holidays and we're trying to ramp up that [00:01:00] momentum in our businesses.
Since you're listening to this episode, there's a good chance you've already started your business or you're right on the edge of creating it, and you might be thinking, I just need a little momentum. I just need that boost. I just need a few things to go my way, a few extra dollars in my pocket, a few new clients.
I just need something to start cooking. You might be looking for some traction, some proof that what you are putting out into the world is truly valuable, which it is, of course, but you want to see that movement.
We all do. It's really important because that helps us to continue to create and put out our goods or products or services to those who need it. So I'm going to talk you through three simple, very doable ways that you can start seeing that action taking place especially if things are feeling a little slow or quiet right now.
first, I want you to ask yourself this question, what can I [00:02:00] offer this week that someone could say yes to? This doesn't mean that you are offering a huge program or a contract to a long-term commitment.
Just think about something small that will create that momentum. maybe it's a one hour session, a strategy call, a quick audit of something that you offer. Maybe it's a digital product, maybe it's a coupon code or a discount on a product that you offer.
Think of something simple, something clear, and something helpful that will make your clients or customers take action quickly. So If you only offer a year long coaching program, or you only offer big ticket items,
then maybe think about something small that you can pull out of that and offer now that's quick, easy, and that someone will say yes to and pay you for this week.
One more thing to think about here is don't launch this quietly. And hope someone notices you need to [00:03:00] say it out loud.
Let everyone know. Send an email blast. Post it on social media. Let your current clients or customers know so that they can refer others to this offer. And you know what? I don't wanna even call it a launch. A launch sounds a little too large. What we're really talking about is whatever you are releasing, whatever you are offering, this one item, this one session, this one product, this one, discount code.
Make sure that you get it out there. Let people know I am offering this for a short time, or I have availability right now to take on more clients, or I'd love to help you with this. Be clear with your messaging and let people know how they can work with you this week.
The next thing you can do is get social. So I don't mean actually posting on social media necessarily. I mean engaging on social media and engaging. With your peers, I often say that 10 minutes can make a difference if you go on your [00:04:00] social media platform of choice and engage. Engage for 10 minutes, and it can be LinkedIn, it can be threads, whatever it is, leave some comments, ask some questions on other people's posts.
This will help you get some engagement and some traction to your page. Yeah. Also, you can engage in real life too, with your peers, with your friends. Maybe you want to make a commitment to yourself that you will attend a networking event one time per month.
If not, just check in with people. Say, Hey, how's your business going? Send messages to friends or peers or colleagues or neighbors and just say, how are you? You can also ask for introductions. It's not sleazy, it's literally just working it into the conversation.
Let others know what you're building or what your goals are for the year. You never know how someone else might be able to help you unless you start that conversation.
Most importantly, I try to remind my clients that business momentum [00:05:00] comes from those conversations more than algorithms. I know we all try to chase those algorithms on social media, but really it's about those relationships and those connections. So you wanna make sure you nourish those.
Whatever you do, don't underestimate the power of simply showing up, being your human self and staying visible with those around you, because relationship building is what matters. At the heart of being any kind of entrepreneur you need your relationships. okay. Those were two things that you can do this week to start seeing some momentum in your business. Here is idea number three, batch ahead of time. Keep your foot on the gas and get to work. I see this all the time. I see it in my business.
I see it with my clients, a business owner is always busy, right? We're always tired, we're always overwhelmed. There literally is always something to do when you are running a business. Don't let yourself get distracted. Don't take your foot off the gas. [00:06:00] Just keep moving,
and if you know yourself and you know that you can't commit to being consistent, whatever that means for your business, maybe it's getting the marketing out there or it's checking in with former clients and asking for testimonials or referrals or working on your next product line or creating that next podcast
whatever it is that is always nagging at your brain because you know it's on your to-do list, take a moment and batch it. What I mean by that is find an hour, two hours a day, whatever you can find, create that pocket of time where you're only going to work on that one thing. What I do for this podcast is batch.
So I'll pick one day during the week or a couple of hours, you know, each week, and I will record my solo episodes. When I record with the guests that you hear me interview, I record those several in a day because then I'm banging it out. I'm focused, my energy is exactly where it needs to [00:07:00] be, and I'm not doing one thing and then switching to something else, and all of those tabs in my head get, confused and overwhelmed.
Instead, I'm focusing on one task and I'm getting a lot done, because once that's done, then I know I can move into the next. Phase of that project, whatever it is, for podcasting, then I have to edit. Then I have to get things ready and posted. but It helps me to batch and know that, okay, for the next month or two, I'm caught up.
Everything is done. So think about how that relates to something in your business. Maybe you want to batch your content, so make all of your social posts for the next month or the next week. Maybe you want to schedule those, or you can write all of your emails for the next month and schedule those out.
You can plan, your offers that you're going to be offering for the next six months. Start thinking ahead of what you're constantly doing all the time that you can condense into a couple of hours or one day, get it done, [00:08:00] and then set it and forget it.
Even if you get a week or two ahead, it can make a big difference on just your energy level and feeling productive so you don't feel like you're constantly chasing that final goal. You're finally, taking a breath and you are being able to actually work on your business instead of in your business.
sometimes if you're working on a blog or you're working on your next offer or your next product, you're in the zone. So why not keep going and create the next one and the next one because that momentum has you going and you're in that energy flow. remember that the next time you're really excited about some aspect of your business and see what else you can pile on and keep that momentum going.
And it's important to note that if you start feeling like, oh, good, I'm getting ahead. Everything's starting to feel more aligned, I'm ahead of schedule. That is not when you can. Stop. Okay. You wanna keep that momentum. So maybe it's scheduling a day for next month to batch. Again, just [00:09:00] always keep moving and while you have your quote unquote foot on the gas, you are continuing to work and you're continuing to grow and build, and you're continuing on that cycle of momentum.
Alright. Those are your three tips for today, but a quick reminder before we wrap up. Sometimes it looks like you're sending that email when no one is responding. Sometimes you might feel like you're posting, but your engagement is low.
Or sometimes you're feeling like, oh, I'm trying to network, but I'm not really getting anywhere and I'm feeling awkward. This is all completely normal. We all go through this and it's just how businesses are built. We're really building this business, this legacy of ours, not in those big flashy moments that everyone sees, but in that steady, intentional action.
if you're feeling stuck, come back to these three things we just talked about. What can I offer right now to bring in income? Who can I engage with and reconnect to? And how can I stay consistent [00:10:00] and not slow down? I.
as always, if you need a little help, let's start a conversation see how I might be able to help you in growing your business and putting these systems in place.
